Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina State

Aminu Bello Masari, the current Governor of Katsina state, was born on 29th May, 1950, in Katsina State, Nigeria. Aminu Bello Masari served as the Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007.
He made an unsuccessful bid for the governorship of Katsina state in 2011. But in 2014, he clinched the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and was subsequently presented as the party’s candidate for the 2015 gubernatorial race.
Aminu Masari won the April 11, 2015, Governorship election after defeating his main opponent, Musa Nashuni. The Governor of Katsina state, a former federal lawmaker, likes to express his candid opinion on political issues even when it is at variance with the views of his colleagues. For instance, he criticizes political leaders who focus on issues that concern sharing of the country’s revenue, at the expense of other issues.
Alhaji Masari says there is no true federalism in the country. He is also of the view that the federal government should not determine a uniform salary for all political office holders in the country.
One of his government’s major areas of focus is the development of education in Katsina state. He believes that education is a vitally significant issue for the progress of any society. The Governor created an additional committee in his administration to work on ways of promoting educational issues in Katsina state.
Some observers and indigenes say that the Masari administration has started a real educational revolution in Katsina state. According to them, this tallies with the Governor’s philosophy that educated people are the primary resource of the country.
