What some international affairs strategists have been mouthing for years now is gradually being collaborated by independent sources. Britain has warned that Islamic extremists sneaked into Nigeria from Syria by leaders of the Islamic State, ISIS, could carry out possible attacks on its territory. The influential UK newspaper, SUN, published a report on Wednesday, asserting that Boko Haram insurgents from Nigeria were also being sent to the Middle East for training in what it described as an Exchange Program.
The report feared that the strong links between Nigeria and the UK would make it easier for ISIS to send its jihadists to Britain to carry out terror attacks in the British homeland.
It noted that more than 150 British troops are conducting counter-terror training with Nigerian forces in Kaduna in an attempt to stem the bloody tide and stop ISIS from gaining any foothold in West Africa. A senior Nigerian Air Force commander, Group Captain Isaac Subi, involved in the training program had hinted that local Islamic militants were learning so much from ISIS after swearing allegiance to its black flag.
Group Captain Subi, who has been fighting terrorism across Africa since 1991, said ISIS used to train its fighters in Northern Nigeria, Yemen and Syria, and make them go back to teach others. The report further stated that the devilish lessons the fighters took away from ISIS had already led to terrorist attacks on British streets, citing the gory killings of innocent Britons such as Fusilier Rigby in 2013 in London by terrorists suspected to have been groomed in Nigeria.
