Ahead of the Governorship and State Assembly Elections in Lagos, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has been urged to recruit more adhoc staff to ensure voters were not kept on the queue for a long time.
One of the election observers in the Presidential and National Assembly Polls in Lagos last Saturday, Comrade Nelson Ekujumi, made the call in an interview.
Comrade Ekujumi, who acknowledged the occurrence of violence in some polling units, urged residents to be peaceful in subsequent elections. He noted that despite increased voter education through various communication channels, the turnout of voters was unimpressive.
Comrade Ekujumi advised Nigerians to see voting during elections as their civic responsibility, which should be exercised to elect credible leaders. He warned those planning to foment trouble in Lagos due to results being announced by INEC to desist but seek redress in court.
Comrade Ekujumi called on all Nigerians to see security of lives and property as a collective responsibility and report suspicious plans and movement to relevant security operatives.
