The African Union ,( AU,)and the Economic Community of West African States Observation (ECOWAS,)Missions have appealed to Nigerians to shun any acts that may trigger post-election violence in the country.
The Leader of the AU delegation and former Kenya President, Mr.Uhuru Kenyatta, and former President of Sierra Leone, and leader of the ECOWAS ,Mr.Etnest Koroma delegation made the call while briefing the media on the preliminary report of the elections
Mr. Koroma said that both missions would continue to involve stakeholders such as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and political parties until the electoral process was concluded.
He also urged INEC to quickly upload election results on its portal to avoid any form of speculations , and fake news
The Leader of the ECOWAS delegation said that he was in Nigeria alongside the AU Mission on a diplomatic engagement to ensure a peaceful transition .
