Less than two weeks after the conduct of the National Assembly Election ,the battle for the topmost principal offices has become heightened among some winners of the Parliamentary Poll.
Some returning lawmakers such as Senators Orji Uzor Kalu , Godswill Akpabio and the current Senate President, Dr.Ahmad Lawan are said to be among the top contenders for the post of the President of the Senate in the 10th National Assembly.
But Senator Kalu appears to stand a brighter chance as the All Progressive Party(APC) is reportedly disposed to giving the slot to the South-East.
APC is said to be considering the other geo- political zones for different positions.
The North-Central, North-West and the South-South are reported to be favoured with the
the posts of the Deputy Senate President, Speaker and Deputy Speaker ,House of Representatives respectively.
The party is said to have become keen in applying the principle of balance ,which it did not embrace on coming to power in 2015.
The adoption of the principle may have foreclosed the chances of the substantive Senate President, Dr. Lawan and the Speaker, House of Representatives , Mr Femi Gbajabiamila from retaining their positions in the 10th National Assembly.
This is because the in-coming President ,Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is from South-West ,as Mr. Gbajabiamila while the next Vice-President, Senator Kashim Shettima is from North-East , as Dr. Lawan.
