AIR PEACE AND NAF PLANES SECURE CLEARANCE FOR THE EVACUATION OF STARANDED NIGERIANS IN SUDAN

The Federal Government has said that the Nigeria Air Force(NAF) and Air Pace planes have been cleared to fly over Egyptian airspace for the evacuation of Nigerians stranded in Sudan.

The government confirmed this in a joint statement issued to newsmen by the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Janet Olisa and that of Humanitarian Affairs, Dr. Sani Gwarzo in Abuja.

The statement said the NAF aircraft received clearance alongside Air Peace and other airlines to fly to Egypt to evacuatethe stranded Nigerians.

It said that the Nigerian Mission in Egypt was liaising with the Egyptian authorities to facilitate the evacuation by providing emergency entry documents and holding shelters, until the stranded Nigerians were airlifted back to Nigeria.

The statement added that arrangements were being concluded to airlift all Nigerians that have already escaped on their own to safety in other countries close Sudan.
