The Supreme Court has declared Ademola Adeleke as the Governor of Osun State.
The apex court, in its judgment read by Justice Emmanuel Agim, also upheld the Appeal Court’s judgment which upheld the election of Mr Adeleke as the state governor.
The court held that the appellant failed to adduce enough evidence to prove his allegation of over voting in the July 16, 2022 governorship poll.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared Mr Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party winner of the governorship election in Osun state after he polled four hundred and three thousand three hundred and seventy one votes, to defeat then-incumbent governor Adegboyega Oyetola, of the All Progressives Congress, who got three hundred and seventy five thousand twenty seven voted.
But Mr Oyetola and the APC rejected the result of the poll and headed for the tribunal.
