Agricultural experts have advised farmers to plant early maturing seeds and not to exercise fears over the uncertainty of rainfall in the country.

The experts, who spoke with journalists in Bauchi, said that there was no need to raise concerns about the rains.

A Director in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Bauchi, Mr. Daniel Abarshi, urged the farmers not to entertain fears as they were still within the planting period.

Mr. Abarshi advised the farmers to plant early maturing varieties of seeds as part of the measures to handle early cessation of rainfall.

On his part, a Lecturer at the College of Agriculture, Bauchi, Alhaji Midalla Sulaiman, noted that this year’s rain pattern might be accompanied with insects and pests that could attack crops and advised farmers to look for pesticides and insecticides in advance for prevention.
