Born on 29 September, 1962, in Babura town, Muhammadu Badaru went to the Babura Central Primary School, in 1970 and proceeded to the famous Rumfa College, Kano, from where he went for his A levels at the School of Basic Studies at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1981 and got admitted into the University to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Accountancy in 1985. In 2006, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar attended the prestigious National Institute for Policy & Strategic Studies, (NIPSS), Kuru Jos.
The businessman-turned politician was variously the President, Jigawa state Chamber of Commerce Industries Mines And Agriculture, President Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industries, Mines And Agriculture (NACCIMA), President, Nigeria – Niger Chambers of Commerce, President Northern States Chamber of Commerce, Chairman Board of Trustees Northern States Chamber of Commerce, and Chairman National Association of Road Transport Owners, Jigawa State.
Alhaji Badaru Abubakar served in various organizations and institutions, such as the Presidential Advisory Committee on Industrial Revolution Plan, Nigeria/America Chambers of Commerce, Nigeria Institute of Industrialists & Corporate Administration, National Privatization Council, National Council on NSME and served as a delegate to the National Conference of 2014.
He has also served as a Director with the Africa Merchant Bank Limited and Bank of the North Limited, now Unity Bank Plc, and the patron of the Rice Farmers Association, Kano, as well as the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Jigawa state.
Apart from being a product of the National Institute, Mni, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru is a fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, FCNA, and a holder of the Member of the Order of the Niger, MON, conferred on him in 2006.
Two major private investment groups – the Solar Providers Limited, SPL, and Dangote Group –explained why they decided to invest in Jigawa state. The SPL said it was attracted by the state’s excellent fundamentals for Solar PV developments, as well as the willingness of the government to work with private developers for the welfare of its people.
A representative of the Dangote Group said of the Abubakar administration, “We were attracted to Jigawa state by the government’s pro-business disposition, proactive government and productive workforce. The success recorded in our Rice program has been a key factor in our decision to go ahead with the new multimillion-dollar rice mill in the state. Jigawa is one of the ideal places for agricultural business in Nigeria.
Governor Badaru Abubakar holds the traditional titles of Sarduana Ringim and Walin Jahun. During these past years the Governor attended various courses both within and outside the country. Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar is a family man, married to three wives and blessed with children.
