President Buhari received FIFA World Cup Trophy ahead of the tournament at the State House in Abuja

If it were to be within the powers of President Muhammadu Buhari to decide, his country, Nigeria, will win the 2018 World Cup to be staged in Russia. But, of course, he knows that such a decision will be accompanied by hard work. This explains why President Buhari has assured the Super Eagles of the needed support to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The President gave the assurance on Wednesday when he received the FIFA World Cup Trophy ahead of the tournament at the State House in Abuja. Hear the President, “The Federal Government will ensure that necessary support is given to facilitate for successful participation of the Super Eagles at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia”. The way he clutched the trophy actually spoke louder than his words.
President Buhari described football as a platform for national unity and economic development, pointing out that it is a huge source of empowerment to teeming Nigerian youths. He also received members of the CHAN Super Eagles team and the Bobsleigh Winter Olympic team, whom he commended for their success and show of patriotism for the nation.
The World Cup trophy, which touched down in Abuja on Wednesday was presented to President Buhari by FIFA representative, Christian Karembeu, at the event attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha.
The Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung; President of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick, and NFF First Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi, were among the dignitaries at the event.
