Top on the agenda are the issues bordering on access to clean water, sanitation, sustainable and cheaper options of treating water and environmental protection using ICT-based solutions.
President Yoweri Museveni, who opened the meeting, urged NWSC officials to learn as much from the visitors as they share information, boasting however that the NWSC is one of the best run public water utilities in Africa. The Executive Directors of all Water Production and Treatment firms in the country as well as Ministry of Water officials and experts from NWSC are attending the summit.
The State Minister for Water, Ronald Kibule, told newsmen that Uganda is expected to be confirmed as hosts for the AFWA Congress in 2020. Mr. Kibule said the authorities have already proved the country’s ability to host the event after successfully hosting the 2010 edition in Kampala.
