The Lagos State Government has expressed concern over the protests in some parts of the state with a call on residents to remain calm and peaceful.
In a statement, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso said that the protesters were reportedly angry over the Naira redesign and its consequent scarcity that has caused hardship and confusion.
He said Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu believe there was no need for violence as the Supreme Court was looking into the controversial matter and would make its position known in a few days’ time.
The statement noted that the Lagos State Government had since joined the legal dispute in the interest of the people and believed the apex court in the land haf the capacity to adjudicate on the matter.
The State government praised Lagosians for showing understanding, despite the pains that the measures have brought and urged residents to continue to be law-abiding by shunning any form of incitement by mischief makers.
