At least six people are feared dead and many injured when a moving train collided with a Lagos State Government bus at PWD area in Ikeja.
The bus with registration no 04A- 48LA fully loaded with staff going to their offices at about 7a.m.
when the unfortunate incident occured.
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mr Taofiq Adebayo, who confirmed the incident said scores were also injured and have been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses especially passengers on board the train, blamed the driver of the bus for not heeding to the blaring of the horn of the train from as far as Ikeja bus stop before PWD, spot of the tragic incident.
The victims of the accident included persons hanging on the train which took off from Abeokuta in Ogun State.
The eyewitnesses also blamed the unfortunate incident on the absence of officials of the Nigeria Railway Corporation(NRC) who control movement at terminals, whenever a train approaches.
They expressed disappointment over the late arrival of the emergency service providers, despite the closeness of the scene to the General Hospital,Ikeja and Police Stat Command Headquarters , also in Ikeja.
The sympathisers demanded regular training of drivers to observe safety standards on the road in order to prevent loss of innocent lives.
As at the time of this report, a crane has removed the bus from the rail track.
