The Lagos State Government has laid the foundation for the reconstruction of the Akere Spare Parts Market in Ajeromi Ifelodun Council Area that was razed on Wednesday, March 8 ,this year.
At the short groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu announced the release of the sum of #100 million naira for victims of the Akere Spare Parts M inarket to give succour to them.
Governor Sanwo-Olu hinted that the market would be upgraded to a storey building to accommodate more traders.
Ahead of Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly Elections, Governor Sanwo-Olu urged Lagos residents to come out and vote for their preferred candidates without fear.
The Governor stated that the eighteen 18 percent vote cast from the over six million registered voters, during the Presidential and National Assembly Elections was not a good representation of the Lagos electorate.
Chairman, Ajeromi Ifelodun Council Area, Mr Fatai Ayoola, thanked the Governor on behalf of all the traders in the market for the gesture.which would help ameliorate their pains.
The Akere Spare Parts Market was razed in the early hours of March 8 damaging two hundred shops with goods worth millions of naira.
