Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has cautioned major fuel marketers against taking undue advantage of the Federal Government’s announcement of the removal of fuel subsidy.

President Bola Tinubu had in his inaugural speech on Monday announced that there was no provision for subsidy in the reordered budget.

Shortly after the announcement, some filling stations in Lagos shut down operations, while those selling the product were besieged by citizens, leading to long queues and Traffic gridlocks.

Reacting to the issue during a visit to the State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja on the first day of work after his swearing in for a second term in office, Governor Sanwo-Olu pointed out that it was too early to start second guessing the President and unfair on the part of the marketers to mete out such treatment to the citizenry.

Governor Sanwo-Olu who had chatted with civil servants and listened to some of their challenges explained that he came in to visit specific Ministries; that of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Economic Planning and Budget, Youth and the Civil Service Commission so that they would be ready to further implement the six pillared governing agenda, THEMES and the additional areas of focus.

After the tete-a-tete with the civil servants Governor Sanwo-Olu went into a meeting behind closed doors with the all Permanent Secretaries who were currently in charge of directing affairs in their various Ministries pending the appointment of new Commissioners.
