Kelechi Ihenacho’s stoppage-time winner in Nigeria’s 3-2 victory over Sierra Leone in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier
has added the country to the list of finalists for next year’s tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
Guinea Bissau also qualified from Group A, as Sierra Leone’s hopes of catching the team became unrealised while the Cape Verde Islands got through from Group B and Mali from Group G.
Other qualifiers are Ivory Coast, holders Senegal, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia and Zambia in the finals in January.
The two top teams in each of the 12 qualifying groups are expected to qualify for the finals.
There are three more matches to complete the fifth rounds of qualifiers, which will all be played on Tuesday.
