The Christian Association of Nigeria CAN has urged the Department of State Service DSS, to stop issuing security alerts especially at festive periods and go after terrorists and criminals inflicting pains on Nigerians.
Chairman of CAN, Kaduna Chapter, Re verend Joseph John Hayab, made the remark following the security agency’s alert earlier that terrorists were planning to attack religious and recreational places during the forthcoming Eid Kabir festival.
Reverend Hayab said that the current alert, like many in the past, has always come during festivities .
The cleric noted that Nigerians were already traumatised and should not be subjected to another trauma with the alerts.
He noted that DSS being a secret organisation should go after the terrorists and other criminally – minded elements while they were still hatching their plans.
The cleric who congratulated the newly -appointed security chiefs advised them to utilse proactive measures, not reactive statements to tackle the security challenges confronting the country.
