Going by the prediction of the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) 31 communities in 14 states nationwide would experience flood attacks following heavy rainfall expected soon in the affected areas .
A Coordinator with NEMA,
Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye,b who issued the alert in a statement , listed some of the states involved to include Akwa Ibom, Delta, Kano, Plateau, Kaduna, Katsina and Yola.
NEMA urged relevant stakeholders within the affected states to take precautionary measures to forestall loss of lives and property in the looming flash floods.
To this effect, an Agro Industry and Food Value Chain expert, Dr. Chijioke Osuji , stressed the need for some interventions to minimize loss in the agric sector thereby ensuring food security in the country during and after the anticipated deluge.
